THE STORY
Owned by Andrew Silverman, known for his other restaurants, City Crab and Steak Frites, Chat 'n Chew, is a kitschy country style diner offering all sorts of comfort foods to us city dwellers. You'll find all the standards here like chicken fried steak, chicken pot pie, burgers, mac and cheese and more. They also have a a burger cake, which actually the reason why Jackie chose to eat here for her birthday lunch! We met up with our friends Mark and John from Sampson and headed in to start the fiesta.

THE BURGER
People have been telling me for years that Chat 'n Chew has the best mac and cheese in the city so of course we started with an appetizer sized order. HOLY MACARONI! They were right! The mac here is creamy, full of flavor and topped with a little garlic. I agree, best mac and cheese in the big apple. Do not skip ordering it! Up next, a juicy burger with American cheese cooked medium rare. Served on a sesame seed bun, the Chat 'n Chew burger is a delicious, flavorful slice of all that's comforting about food. I was definitely not expecting the burger to be this good.

Once we finished off our greasy goodness sandwiches, the waitress cleared the table to make way for the star of the show' HAMBURGER SHAPED CUPCAKES!! I was so excited. The tiny little cup cakes looked so cute. The buns and burger are the cake and the toppings are the frosting. They were soooooo delicious. I am not much of a cake person but these little bad boys were a pure treat and a unique way to serve them. They are not to be missed!

To steal a little line from Bill Cosby, Chat 'n Chew is great! Gave us a burger cake!
